Three Views

After four days of rain, the water was high, brown, and running fast.

Don’t forget to go to the Three Views page to see the same views in from earlier this year.  The month-to-month changes are dramatic.  I expect they’ll be less so as summer arrives.

The weather is finally getting warmer and the soft springtime green of new leaves is everywhere.  The river is running high, not quite flood stage, but close.

Don’t forget to go to the Three Views page to see the same views over the past four months.  The progression is nifty.

What a difference a month makes!  Note the buds on the overhanging trees: Acer negundo (I think) in the first photo, and Acer rubrum (I think) in the third photo.  And of course, the snow and ice are gone.

Go to the Three Views page to compare with the scenes in February, January, and December.

This February has been one of the coldest on record, with temperatures in the DC region about 5 degrees F below average.  It’s been snowing more often, too, but without much accumulation.  Makes for some pretty pictures.

Don’t forget to go to the Three Views page to see the same views in January and December.
